For 16’’ Alumnus Darren Le Vay, it was his sister Melissa, already a student at that time at Vatel Business School Mauritius, who led him to his calling. With a science baccalaureate from Lycée Kerraoul Paimpol and struggling to find the “why” in his life, he started right down the path of change, entering our Bachelor in International Hotel Management Program in 2013.
He defines his hospitality experience so far and his time at Vatel Business School Mauritius as “ever life-changing’’.
“Embarking on hospitality is embarking on a school of life. Vatel Business School Mauritius really helped me in developing my creative side, the discipline, rigour and most importantly my multitasking ability to juggle in between active, experiential and theoretical sessions… I could only be grateful for the way my professional and personal growth turned out for the better since then”, he explains.
Currently, on the road to success with more than 6 years of food and beverages management experience under his belt; working for Crowne Plaza Beijing Lido (China) as Management Trainee in 2015, Coordinator and Assistant Manager respectively for the F&B Team of Sugar Beach Resort for the period 2016 to 2021 – Darren is now one-part Food and Beverages Manager at Royal Green and one part co-founder and Director of Mixonomy Ltd.
The Mixonomy Ltd is akin to Darren’s vision in action but with a new concept of food and beverages in the making, with a subtle ode to our Founder and CEO, Mr Azema’s invaluable entrepreneurial advices.
He explains that he had to put in long/ irregular hours of hard work, sacrificing his personal/ social life to achieve his dream project of founding a dedicated food and beverages consulting firm and again chalks up his success to the alma mater, the teaching staff, his business partner, David and mostly Mr Azema for making him ‘’think big’’.
After a few years’ time, the 25-year-old accomplished hotelier plans to himself join in the teaching staff of Vatel Business School Mauritius and assist the institution in educating its next cohort of leaders.
